Confessions of a Personal Trainer
A solo show about training the best and the worst of a luxury gym
You get the best life lessons from those that you teach. Katie’s always had a love/hate relationship with training thanks to the exhausting, complex and generous clients that have taught her as much about life as she has taught them how to squat. “Confessions” takes a deep dive into love and loss at the gym, going behind the scenes of the luxury fitness world and exploring the unconventional relationships that blossom within it.
Confessions has been in the works for two years, ever since Katie started writing her and her clients’ stories down. Around this time she fell in love with a gym member. Then, after a year of workshops and performances, Katie lost a close client to suicide. The settling of a new relationship combined with her grief added an emotional bloodline to the show that pushed it from niche-subject comedy to theatre for all. It went up at The Barrow Group, The Kraine Theatre, The Tank and The PIT before making its international, sold-out debut with the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Hilarious! “Confessions of a Personal Trainer funnels the upbeat energy you'd expect from a personal trainer into a hilarious look into the world of luxury fitness. Sharp! "Confessions of a Personal Trainer offers funny, sharp insights about the vulnerabilities of a woman whose job is to act invulnerable. - Joe Berkowitz, author + critic, Away With Words
